The Pella Christian softball team is already at work in preparation for the 2017 season.

The Eagles are coming off of a 2016 campaign in which they went 21-8 overall and finished fifth in the Little Hawkeye Conference with a record of 6-6.

Coach Karen Harrill says they focused on improving their fitness over the offseason, and practice this spring has been geared towards sharpening their minds.

“Physically, they’re very capable of getting there. Mental toughness what we’re focusing on – understanding your situation, not getting too anxious about it, understanding what you need to do, and do it. They’ve really grasped ahold of that idea, but until we get them in pressure situations we’re not going to see exactly how it goes. They’ve got a new attitude this year. They’ve got an attitude of get out of my way, we’re going to get this done.”

The Eagles get the season started next Monday at home with a JV – varsity twinbill against country rival Pleasantville.
