As part of their history series, the Pella Historical Society is hosting a special presentation about immigrant farmers.

They will highlight “Vang,” a presentation on recent immigrant farmers in Iowa, written by Iowa Poet Laureate Mary Swander. The two-actor play will show the joys and difficulties of pursuing an agricultural lifestyle in Iowa as an immigrant.

“Vang” (Hmong for “garden”) will be shown on Wednesday, May 31, at 8 p.m. at the Cox-Snow Music Center at Central College. A “talk-back” with Mary Swander will be held afterwards. Tickets are $8 and are available at the Vermeer Windmill in Pella or are $10 at the door.
