Pella Regional Health Center is reminding parents about the need to keep kids of all ages in top shape during the summer months.

Occupational Therapist Kelly Decious tells KNIA/KRLS News Pella Regional offers a wide range of services to those in need of extra assistance year-round, including occupational, speech, and physical therapy.

She says it’s especially important to keep kids engaged during the summer, especially without the typical support systems provided during the school year.

“One of the things we really tend to hit during the summer are just some basic skill builders,” she says. “Those might fall in the area of fine motor growth, trunk strengthening, or cognitive functioning.”

Decious says to contact a child’s regular physician or their office to see what programs would be suitable.
