Both Pleasantville baseball and softball squads won their first games of 2017 last night, and both in thrilling fashion. The boys winning 1-0 against Bondurant-Farrar, and the girls winning 8-4 in nine innings over Chariton.

Gauge Van Haalen led off the game with a home run for the only run scored on the baseball side, and Kyle Amendt threw a gem on the mound going the whole way for the win and striking out 11k. Abby DeJoode went all nine innings for the Trojans and struck out 10 for the win, Bridgette McKinney went 2-3 with a home run, and Taylor Foley went 2-5 and garnered the go ahead hit. Both squads improve to 1-1, the baseball team plays friday at home against Mount Ayr, while the girls play on Thursday at Southeast Warren.
