Webb Shadle Library in Pleasantville will be holding a “Protect Your Melon” bike safety event tomorrow afternoon from 1:15 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The event will take place in front of the library and is geared towards children from preschool to fifth grade. The event will give children a chance to learn proper bike safety while also having their helmets adjusted to protect their melons, or heads. Representative Greg Heartsill who partnered with the library to put on the event tells KNIA/KRLS News helmets will be available for children who do not have one and Marion County Public Health will be giving out healthy snacks during the event. The Pleasantville Police and Fire Departments will be helping children with a bike safety course and two new bicycles will also be given away during the event.
