Central College left fielder Tabitha Taylor claimed the final Louisville Slugger / NFCA Division III Player of the Week honors for the 2017 season yesterday.

Taylor hit .545 at the plate last weekend, going 6-for-11 in four games for the Dutch. She scored two runs and drove in two more runs while slugging .636. Adding in three walks, she reached base nine times for a .645 on-base percentage.

In 40 games this year, Taylor is third on the team with a .364 batting average. She’s drove in 26 runs while crossing the plate 27 times herself. She’s been a walked a team-high 17 times and is slugging .504 with 10 doubles, two triples and one home run.

Central pitcher Karly Olson was recognized by the NFCA in the “Other Top Performance” category for her play last week. She pitched shutout victories over both Dubquue and Loras last week, striking out 15 batters in 13 innings, Olson also went 4-for-15 at the plate with two doubles and four RBIs.

Taylor, Olson and the rest of the ninth-ranked Dutch are preparing for this weekend’s NCAA regional tournament, which starts with tomorrow afternoon’s 3:30 contest against #23 St. Thomas. You can hear all of Central’s postseason games on 92.1 KRLS.
