Many area girls soccer teams will begin their postseason journey today.

The No. 1 in Class 2A Pella Lady Dutch aim to defend their home field against Mt. Pleasant, while PCM travels to Eagle Lane to take on No. 10 in 1A Pella Christian in the regional tournaments.

Pella Christian defeated the Mustangs 5-0 at the Southeast Polk Tournament on May 13th. Eagles Head Coach Mike Buchheit says the girls will aim to replicate their success and look to spread opportunities around to keep everyone engaged in the postseason.

“It’s going to be a lot about focusing on what we can do, how we execute our game and how we spread some of the minutes around to keep everybody healthy. We’re certainly talented from top to bottom, but we have to make sure we keep everybody healthy and strong so that as we make our marks through the postseason that we can do it with everybody at 100 percent.”

The Lady Dutch are aiming to start the journey to their third consecutive trip to the state tournament after falling in the championship game to Lewis Central last year.

Both regional soccer playoff games in Pella begin at 6 p.m.
