Independence Day celebrations will be taking place throughout Marion County to celebrate the 241st 4th of July holiday.

The City of Leighton will celebrate on Friday, June 30th with a town celebration in the evening and fireworks after sunset.

Pella, Knoxville, Pleasantville and Bussey will all be hosting fireworks on the 4th of July at dusk. Pella 4th of July Committee Chair Paul Kingma says the city of Pella’s display is located at Madison Elementary. A full list of Pella’s day-long celebration is available here.

Knoxville’s annual display will take place the evening of July 4th with fireworks being launched from the Knoxville Airport.

Pleasantville’s festivities will begin the evening of July 3rd with a celebration of “‘‘Merica” featuring the Iowa Beer Bus in downtown Pleasantville from 6 to 10 p.m. Pleasantville’s 4th of July Parade will begin at 11 a.m. on the 4th with this year’s theme being “Star-spangled Salute for the Red, White and Blue.”

Bussey will begin their holiday celebration with a Family Fun Day on Sunday, July 2nd at North Park at 3 p.m. The day will include free events for all ages including a free hot dog, watermelon and chips meal. Bussey will hold their annual 4th of July Parade at 10 a.m. on the 4th.

The KNIA/KRLS Lil and Big Red Radio will participate in area parades, and KNIA/KRLS will broadcast special patriotic music magazines during area fireworks celebrations.
