Former Central College NCAA Division III champion Kurtis Brondyke finished fifth in the decathlon at the U.S.A. Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, California this weekend.

Brondyke, a 2011 Central grad who won that year’s Division III indoor pentathlon title and placed second in the outdoor decathlon, came into the weekend as the number eight qualifier in the 16-man field.

He won the shotput with a throw of 50 feet eight-and-quarter inches, finished second in the javelin at 204 feet one inch, and took fifth in both the discus and 110 meter hurdles.

Brondyke’s total score was 7,746 points. Trey Hardee won the even at 8,225.
