Former Central College NCAA Division III champion Kurtis Brondyke qualified for this week’s U.S.A. Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, California.

Brondyke, a 2011 Central grad who won the 2011 Division III indoor pentathlon title and placed second in the outdoor decathlon, qualified eighth in the 16-man field with a mark of 7,795 points.

A Clinton, Iowa native, Brondyke is an assistant track and field coach working primarily with jumps and multi-events at the University of Central Missouri. He won his second Drake Relays title earlier this year with 7,600 points.

The championships run today through Sunday, June 25, with Brondyke’s two days of competition taking place today and tomorrow.
