The Pella baseball and softball teams each lost non-conference games last night. The boys fell to Saydel 11-5 while the girls lost to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 8-4.

In the baseball game, Saydel only outhit Pella 11-9, but the Eagles took advantage of three Pella errors, eight walks and a hit batter. The errors led directly to two Saydel runs, and five of the eight batters who walked came home to score.

Jaden Rolffs was two-for-four with a two-run home run for Pella, Caleb Piersma was two-for-three and Tyler Hillman added an RBI triple and two runs scored.

In softball, Pella took a 3-2 lead with a three-run second inning, but the Rockets scored four in the third and two in the fourth to take control.

Madison Parks had two of Pella’s five hits and Alizabeth Van Dusseldorp had two RBI.

The Lady Dutch drop to 3-13 on the season, while the Little Dutch are 5-6.

Both squads head to Oskaloosa tonight. Softball has a ninth grade / jayvee / varsity triple header starting at 4:30, while baseball is a jayvee / varsity twin bill starting at 5:30.
