The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reminds everyone that possession of explosives or explosive devices of any kind, including fireworks and other pyrotechnics, on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property is prohibited.

Park Ranger Tracy Spry says the changes to Iowa law did not affect federal regulations.

“While it’s been in the news about some of the rules being relaxed on private property, the rule for Corps of Engineers managed areas has always been that fireworks or pyrotechnic devices of any sort are not allowed,” Spry says.

It’s a user’s responsibility to know when and where fireworks may be used legally and safely, and violators of regulations will be cited.
