The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday.
The board considered a partnership with the city of Knoxville to provide eight new tennis courts and a full-size outdoor basketball court across the street from the high school where the skate park is currently located. The board made the approval for construction documents to be created for the project that would give the board a better estimate of cost for the project. Knoxville School Superintendent Cassi Pearson told the board the reason to have construction documents created is so when talking to voters for the project, the school district can be completely accurate with their estimates.
The board voted to approve the purchase of two new scoreboards to replace the old scoreboards at the high school gym that have been part of the high school since its construction. An approval was also made to terminate the contract for the current driver’s education provider following a 90 day notice. The board made the approval following the board being informed of criminal charges facing the providing company’s owner as well as potential staff changes to the company. The board later made approvals for the TAG handbook as well as the one to one handbook for the Apple Macbook Air. The board also reviewed legislative priority items and made note of any issues or edits the board felt needed to be considered in more detail.
