The Knoxville Softball Squad is starting to get a reputation for pulling out games late. Last night when the bats seemed to be silent once again, the Panthers got just enough and took advantage of late Pella errors to come from behind and win 6-4. Knoxville jumped on top in the first but Pella responded with two runs of its own in the second inning. Neither team crossed the plate until the fourth inning when Knoxville tied the score at two when Alex Griggs reached on an error and brought home Shaye Nichols. Pella would score two more times once on an R-B-I single by Kinzi Van Wyk in the fifth and an R-B-I double by Mackenzie Meyer in the sixth. Knoxville would take the lead for good in the top of the seventh with three runs and pitcher Rielly Finarty with the help of a double play by Hannah Hauschildt and Maddy Findley closed the door. Panthers senior player Lucy Olson told KNIA/KRLS Sports the message all game long with to stick with what they were doing and not give up. Lady Dutch Head Coach Robin Llewellyn tells KNIA/KRLS Sports she was pleased with her team’s ability to battle back numerous times in the game, but the team was disappointed with the finish. Finarty got the win going the distance allowing four runs on ten hits, three walks and two strikeouts. Pella’s Maddie Parks was a hard-luck loser in the circle, giving up five unearned runs in 6 1/3 innings. She was 4/4 from the plate as well with two runs scored, and Pella’s Kinzi Van Wyk was 3/3 with an R-B-I and two stolen bases.
