Ties and lead changes are usually reserved for basketball or football games – sports with much higher scoring. But last night’s baseball game between Pella and Centerville featured four ties and four lead changes, with the Little Dutch ultimately prevailing 13-10.

After seeing an 8-3 lead evaporate with a six run Centerville fifth inning, Pella pulled in front for good in the sixth on a two-run triple by Landon Vander Leest.

He was one of four Pella players to tally a multi-hit game. Tyler Hillman was three-for-four with a double, a triple, three runs and two RBI. Vander Leest, Caleb Piersma and River Baker all had two hits, while Vander Leest, Piersma and Jaden Rolffs joined Hillman with two RBIs on the night.

The Little Dutch are now 11-10 on the season. Both the Pella baseball and softball teams are at home tonight against Norwalk for varsity doubleheaders. Baseball takes to the diamond at 5:30, while softball starts at 6:00.
