Both the Pella and Pella Christian softball teams were hoping to bounce back from walk-off losses with their first conference win in a game heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

It was the Eagles who took the step back into the winners’ column after their shutout of the Lady Dutch 5-0.

Pella Christian’s offense drove in four of their five runs with two outs, including a laser by Brooke Mitristin on a two-run double that brought in the game’s first tallies in the 2nd inning.

The Eagles weren’t done, and scored Emma Schnell following a Kirsten Vander Hart single as the PC Hurler scored on a throw trying to nab Vander Hart at second after the first toss came in low at 3rd in the fourth.

Pella Christian took advantage of a pair of doubles sandwiching a costly Pella error in left during the 5th to get two more unearned insurance runs.

Eagles Head Coach Karen Harrill says’ she was pleased with the team’s offensive production after what has been a bit of a slow start.

Emma Schnell was once again dominant in her third win of the season, striking out 11 in a three-hit shutout. Pella’s Kinzi Van Wyk pitched well, but was hung with the loss after giving up five runs–three earned, in her first seven-inning start of the season.

Pella Christian is 3-1 and is off until they travel to the Oskaloosa invitational on Saturday, while the Lady Dutch fall to 2-5 and try to bounce back on Friday at Indianola.
