The Pella City Council will consider banning the use of fireworks in the city limits at their meeting Monday evening.

A resolution has been introduced to council after the state legalized fireworks, negating a previous ban of the use and sale currently in the Pella City Code.

Public hearing dates will also be set for a water main relocation along Clark Street near Pella Corporation and the rehabilitation of the Pella Municipal Airport runway. The first reading of an ordinance making the intersection of East 8th and University Street a three-way stop is on the agenda as well.

Following regular business, the council will discuss a proposed ordinance to increase water rates in conjunction with the long-term water supply improvement plan financing, a proposed tree rebate program, and possible gravel road improvements at 218th Avenue near the Shady Brook Subdivision and 218th place from Washington Street to St. Mary’s Church.
