It was a clean sweep for the Pella Christian softball team at the Oskaloosa Invitational Saturday, while Pella High went 1-2.

The Eagles won their contests over Mount Vernon 4-1, West Burlington 3-1, and Cardinal 8-2.

Pella lost to Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 12-2, beat South Hardin 10-0, then lost to Albia 11-3.

For Pella Christian, Emma Schnell pitched a complete seven against Mount Vernon, striking out eleven and giving up a solo shot, and also earned a six out save with three Ks against West Burlington. Natalie Vos started the other two games — her first of the year, giving up an earned run in seven innings overall.

Lizzy Van Manen was six-for-eight with four doubles and a triple and Chloe Dembski had six hits and five runs scored over the three games.

For the Lady Dutch, Madison Parks had five hits on the day, Ally Almond had an RBI in all three games, and Kinzi Van Wyk went three-for-three with four RBI in the win over South Hardin.

The Lady Dutch are 3-9 on the season, and they’ll travel to Norwalk tonight. The Pella baseball team is also at Norwalk this evening.

With the three wins Saturday, the Pella Christian softball team is 6-1, and host conference newcomer Indianola tonight. You can listen to that game live on 92.1 KRLS with Andrew Schneider on the call. Pregame starts at 7:00 with opening pitch at 7:30.

Pella Christian’s baseball team also hosts the Indians tonight. The Eagles were in action Saturday at the E-B-F tournament. They lost to Pekin 2-1 before beating North Mahaska 4-1 to move to 6-3 on the season.
