New Central College women’s basketball coach Joe Steinkamp is excited about the future of the program, and optimistic about the prospects of a quick turnaround.

Joining us on last night’s Central College Radio Coaches Corner on KRLS, Steinkamp said that he talked to the girls before they left campus for the summer, and while they were frustrated about their 9-16 record this past season, there were a lot of positives that came out of the conversations.

“I’ve been really impressed with their attitude in general. They have a positive outlook and they’re working really hard. The thing about basketball, and a lot of sports, is there’s a fine line between winning and losing. Often times, there’d be games where they’d hang in there for a half, but for whatever reason would run out of steam. So I don’t think it’s all negatives there, although the record might indicate that. There are some definite positives to take out of it.”

The full interview with Steinkamp is available on-demand under the 24/7 KRLS stream at www.kniakrls.com.
