Pleasantville High School will host the first ever Strikeout for Cancer baseball and softball games this evening.
The idea to hold a cancer fundraising event in conjunction with the softball and baseball teams was first conceptualized after Head Softball Coach Marcy Roff’s mom past away in January to a rare form of cancer. Roff tells KNIA/KRLS News one day we hope to “kick cancers butt and with the help of tonight’s donations we will be on the right path to doing that.” Proceeds from the games will go to the American Cancer Society. The games will include silent auctions, an ice cream vender donating money earned throughout the night as well as balloons to be purchased and released during a ceremony between games. Pledges can also be made for the number of runs scored, runs batted in, and home runs. This evenings event will begin with the Junior Varsity games at 6 p.m.
