Doing something once can be easy, or possibly even a fluke. Doing it a second time is often much more difficult.

The Central College wrestling team improved upon its 20th place finish at the 2016 division three national tournament with an 18th place finish this spring.

Joining us on last night’s Central College Radio Coaches Corner on KRLS, Coach Eric Van Kley spoke proudly of his teams’ success.

“Coming out of our regional, which once again was the toughest regional in the country in terms of number of All-Americans, and (for us) to qualify five guys (for Nationals) and for the second consecutive year to finish in the top 20 nationally, I think it legitimizes our status relative to where we want this program to be. It’s not a one hit wonder or something that just one or two guys made, but it’s something that we’ve really built over the last several years and have hopefully built it to last for the near future.”
