A group of Pershing residents is trying to do all they can to bring the children of Pershing new playground equipment to revitalize the community.

Playground Chairperson Chelsa Mortenson tells KNIA/KRLS News the community needs to bring people back to Pershing. According to Mortenson the community has become lost on the map and the residents want to bring it back. She says there are a lot of great things in Pershin;, a lot of history and a lot of great businesses. Mortenson says the community’s goal is to raise $150,000 for the new playground which would cover all the equipment, groundwork and some maintenance through the next few years. Mortenson adds, they want to give families of Pershing a safe place for their children to play and to have free family quality time. A meeting on the park in which residents can find out more information and see concept drawings will take place on Monday, August 7th at 6 p.m. and will be held at the Pershing Community Center. A can drive is also being held from August 1st through the 16th with pick up for Pershing, Bussey and Attica taking place on August 5th.
