The Pella Christian baseball team swept Oskaloosa last night, 6-2 and 5-3, while the Eagle softball team won a pair of run-rule games at the Don Bosco tournament, beating Cedar Falls 10-0 in five innings and AGWSR, the fourth ranked team in class 1A, 11-0 in four innings.

In baseball, Will Dembski cranked a two-run homer in the first inning of game one to stake the Eagles to an early lead. After the Indians tied it in the bottom of the inning, Pella Christian responded with three more in the second on a Cole Webster RBI single, an Osky error and a Lawson Bruxvoort sac fly.

The Eagles added an insurance tally in the fifth on a Scott Haveman RBI single. Haveman pitched six and two thirds innings to earn the victory, and Wyatt Terpstra got the final out for the save.

In game two, Dembski did it again with a first inning solo home run as Pella Christian built a 3-0 lead. After the Indians cut it to 3-2, the Eagles got a fifth inning RBI single from Bruxvoort and a run in the seventh on an error. Isaac Vander Hart threw a complete game to get the win.

The Eagles are 14-15, and move to 9-11 in the LHC. They’ll next play Monday night at Twin Cedars.

The softball team improves to 27-5 on the season, and will wrap up the regular season with two more games today at Don Bosco.
