Pella Christian’s No. 4 ranked softball team is heading to the regional final for the 3rd time in four years after fending off the big bats of Louisa-Muscatine in a 5-3 victory heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

The first half of the game was dominated by Eagles Pitcher Emma Schnell and Falcons Pitcher Hailey Sanders, each giving up a combined four baserunners.
Pella Christian struck for the first run in the bottom of the fourth without the benefit of a hit or an error, as Kirsten Vander Hart drove in Lizzy Van Manen on a fielder’s choice. Louisa-Muscatine answered with a no-doubt home run in the 5th by Randyn Carter.

Head Coach Karen Harrill tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the Eagles were opportunistic when they jumped on two errors to bust the game open in a three-run fifth.

The Eagles tacked on insurance in the 6th and held off another Falcon home run in the 7th to get the win.

Emma Schnell gave up two unearned runs in the victory, and Schnell, Brooke Mitrisin, Vander Hart, and Ivy Terpstra each had runs batted in.

Pella Christian is 32-5 and play for a chance at state on Monday night against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont in the Regional Final at Eagle Lane, with every pitch live on 92.1 KRLS.
