The Pella School Board approved a recommendation from administrators to eliminate class rank at Pella High School.

Superintendent Greg Ebeling tells KNIA/KRLS News most colleges and universities don’t require the measure of class rank because of how it differs from district-to-district. Ebeling says many high-achieving districts in the state have removed the ranking, as it was adversely impacting many students trying to enroll at the state’s three regents’ universities.

Ebeling adds the program also placed undue pressure on many students and created competition within classes.
