Pella swept Grinnell last night at home in baseball, 4-2 and 4-3.

In game one, Grinnell struck first with a run in the third, but Pella answered right back with three runs on a pair of bases loaded walks and a Landon Vander Leest RBI fielders choice. Jaden Rolffs’ fourth inning double tacked on some insurance for the Little Dutch, who got six innings of work on the mound from Tyler Hillman and a save from Joel Ruiter.

Game two saw the Little Dutch jump out first with three third inning runs, including an RBI double from Rolffs and an RBI hit from Vander Leest. Grinnell clawed their way back even before Pella scored the game winner on a River Baker groundout. Kamden Lambert got the win in relief of Colby Van Gorp, and Ruiter threw a perfect seventh for his second save of the night.

The Little Dutch are 17-14 and finish in third place in the Little Hawkeye Conference at 12-9. After playing seven games over the last five days, they’ll take the weekend off to get ready for Monday’s playoff preview against Knoxville.
