Pella’s Tyler Hillman and Pleasantville’s Brandon Gibson were named to the 31st All-Academic Team selected by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Hillman wrapped up a stellar four year career for the Little Dutch and Coach Jesse Jablonski earlier this month.

“As a freshman, he was a kid we moved around the infield quite often and we could tell at that point that because he could handle those moves with a freshman with ease and he wasn’t overwhelmed by it at all, we knew we had a pretty special player on our hands”, Jablonski said. “I was looking at these numbers the other night, and he was also a player we could count on to get red hot in the second half or the last month of the season every year.”

Hillman hit an even .400 during his senior season with a team leading six homeruns. On the mound, he went 5-3 with a 2.20 ERA and 63 strikeouts in 57 innings of work.

Gibson went 3-0 with a save while pitching for Pleasantville in his senior season, and as a hitter he batted .268.

Both Hillman and Gibson will be honored at a banquet next Saturday in West Des Moines.
