The Panthers came into the final night of the South Central Conference season knowing they were out of contention to win the conference, but their opponent Chariton, with a win on that February second game could force a tie for the South Central Conference title with Eddyville-Blakesburg. The Panthers decided to play spoiler in a game that was close throughout but ended up a 46-39 Knoxville win and that gave sole possession of first place to the Rockets and denied the Chargers a conference title. Later that week, the Panthers were treated to a pizza party by the Eddyville girls as a thank you for allowing them to win the outright South Central Conference title.
