The Marion County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The board held a discussion regarding County Care Facility operations and septic system project and received bids for the project. Estimates were given that over $140,000 in septic and electrical work is needed. Less than 15 people live in the facility, and a minority are from Marion County. Following a lengthy discussion with Environmental Health Coordinator Cory Frank and a DNR representative, the board approved giving a 180 day notice of the termination of the lease agreement for the facility.

The board granted the city of Pleasantville a five year extension for total incremental life period of the Springview Urban Renewal Area as well as approved the reappointing of Cathy Struecker to the Marion County Civil Commission. The board then discussed the Attica and Pershing Area Sewer Project in which the board approved the work plan of a two to five year process which would potentially require individual residents to install their own septic systems.

The board approved the special events application by the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce to use the gazebo at the courthouse for announcements during the Nationals parade as well as held a discussion regarding senior nutrition meal site contracts for Knoxville, Pella and Pleasantville. They also approved support for an application for the Iowa Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Improvement Program for funding of temporary traffic signals.
