After a slow start to 2017, the Pleasantville Trojan baseball team’s young bats began to come alive throughout the course of the season to have three separate players hit over .340.

With a lot of varsity talent lost to graduation over the course of the last two state tournament years, and just one senior on the squad, the Trojans bats took some time to get adjusted to a tough varsity schedule. Gauge Van Haalen had his average hover around .300 until the latter parts of the season before eventually bringing it up to .340 at the season’s conclusion, but perhaps the biggest jumps came from Colton Major and Cael Lester.

Major raised his average to .352 on the season, while Lester couldn’t find a way to get out and ended up hitting .426. Overall, the top six averages for the Trojans will all be returning to next year’s squad. A full season recap of the Pleasantville baseball season can be heard on the Knoxville HyVee Radio Coaches Corner in the coming weeks.
