Today’s solar eclipse may be difficult to see throughout much of the region.

Meteorologist Kurt Kotenberg with the National Weather Service says mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast throughout most of the day, with some clearing expected later this afternoon. The skies will be at least 65% covered by 1 p.m. He says chances for storms will be high this evening through the overnight hours as well.

According to NASA, the peak of the solar eclipse will be between 1:09 and 1:11 p.m. today, with 94 to 95% of the total eclipse being seen, assuming there are gaps in cloud coverage.
