Many in Marion County had an obstructed view of the first continental solar eclipse in 99 years Monday afternoon.
Lingering clouds from morning rain showers and storms made viewing difficult for many, but that didn’t stop residents from celebrating the occasion. Pella Historical Society says they had dozens of residents and visitors turn out to a viewing party during the peak obstruction of the sun just after 1 p.m. The next solar eclipse visible in the United States won’t happen until 2024.
