John Evenhouse typically likes to use eight or nine players in the Pella Christian volleyball rotation.

This year, there are a dozen girls with the skills to see the floor.

The veteran coach plans to stick with his rotational plans, meaning that some of the ladies will have to find another role.

“You may be a player who has to work hard in practice and doesn’t get as much playing time this year, but getting ready for next year. If you’re a junior, you always have that – next year, I’ll get my shot. If you’re a senior and you’re in that role, you have to provide leadership and be positive, and if there’s an injury, you have to be ready to step right in.”

For the second straight Saturday, the Eagles are at Ankeny Centennial today for a scrimmage. They’ll get their first official competition of the season next Saturday at the Ames Invitational.
