Pella Regional Health Center’s first baby in their new Family Birthing Center is a little girl.

Sydnie Noelle Boender was born at 7:37 am on Tuesday, August 29th. Her parents are Karl and Kristin Boender of Oskaloosa, and the physician working with the family is Dr. Galyn Vande Zande. Pella Regional opened the new birthing center Tuesday, after one year of construction on the hospital’s new third floor. Chief Nursing Officer Yvonne O’Brien-Evans says the space includes more rooms for labor/delivery and postpartum — 7 labor rooms, 3 postpartum rooms and 2 triage rooms, additional space in the nursery and expanded nursing station and waiting areas. It also offers a wide range of amenities for moms, families and visitors.

“This is important to the hospital but also to the many communities in the areas we serve,” said, chief nursing officer at Pella Regional. “Healthy, growing families make healthy, growing communities. What better way to invest in our future as a hospital and as a region than in supporting young families with a beautiful new Family Birthing Center.”
