The Knoxville Nationals bring an increase in population to Knoxville every year as race fans visit from all over the world.

With the increase in population comes the increase in incidents involving law enforcement. Beginning with the 360 Nationals on August 3rd and running through the 57th Annual Knoxville Nationals until Sunday, August 13th the Knoxville Police Department kept track of each incident. According to the Knoxville Police Department during the event 21 people were arrested or charged with a crime; 11 for alcohol related offenses. Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS News of the 21 people arrested only nine were from Marion County and it is the first year in which less than half of those arrested were from the county. A total of 83 traffic citations were written with only two for golf cart or utility vehicle violations. A total of 248 traffic stops were made by the Knoxville Police Department which means officers wrote a citation in about one third of all stops.
