Local organizations came out Thursday to the square in downtown Knoxville to give residents a chance to volunteer to make their community a better place to live and work.

Knoxville resident and avid volunteer Craig Kelley who organized Thursday’s event tells KNIA/KRLS News it’s nice to have all of Knoxville’s civic organizations and other groups in one area and it’s nice to see people downtown finding avenues they can take to volunteer. Kelley says he originally thought Thursday’s event would be a one time deal, but he now says could see it becoming an annual event. Thursday’s event featured free treats for anyone in attendance.
