Three Marion County baseball players were named first team all-state yesterday by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches’ Association.

Pella teammates Tyler Hillman and Jaden Rolffs were selected in class 3-A, while Twin Cedars’ Trace Embray was named in 1-A.

Hillman was named to the 3-A first team for the second consecutive year as a utility player in his final high school season. He was Pella’s best pitcher with a 5-3 record and a 2.20 ERA with 63 strikeouts in 57 innings. He also batted .400 with a team high six home runs.

Rolffs, a junior, was chosen as a catcher. He paced the Little Dutch with a .450 batting average, adding three homers, 11 doubles and a team best 38 RBI.

Embray, a senior for the Sabers this past year, led the Sabers on the mound and at the plate, earning him a utility all-state spot. He was 8-2 as a pitcher with a 0.90 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 62 innings. At the dish, he hit .440 with seven doubles, four home runs and 32 RBI, all while striking out just twice.
