Today we continue the countdown of the Top 10 sports stories of the 2016-2017 school year at Pleasantville High School, and we’ve finally reached number one.

Chaz Clark enjoyed a strong junior season on the mats that had high expectations after a strong sophomore campaign, and totally delivered going 47-3 qualifying for the state meet at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines in the 220lb bracket. Clark easily dispatched his first round opponent Clary Harper from Tri-County 8-0, ran into some trouble against quarterfinal opponent Korby Keehner of MFL MARMAC but came out victorious 9-7, and then punched his ticket to the state championship match by taking down Tom Reif of Missouri Valley 10-3.

Clark would face 40-1 senior Drake Johnson of Logan-Magnolia, and come up just short with a loss by fall in 2:19. As just a junior, Clark was the only underclassman of four Trojan wrestlers to make the state meet and is primed to make another run at a state title in 2017-18.
