Today we continue the countdown of the Top 10 sports stories of the 2016-2017 school year at Pleasantville High School with number two.

After not getting anyone qualified to the 2016 state track and field meet, the goal for the Pleasantville Trojan girls squad was to send a representative to the blue oval. The Trojans would surpass that goal and send two athletes to compete at Drake, with one of them breaking a 43 year old school record.

Kylee Van Haalen-Brown threw a 111-00.00 even to break the record and finished second in the district qualifier, while Kasey Pelzer jumped 16-01.75 to place second in the long jump to qualify. Head Coach Aaron Fichter told KNIA/KRLS Sports, it was no surprise how far Van Haalen-Brown went throughout the course of the season to eventually break the record. Both state qualifiers for the Trojans will be back for next season.
