With 22 seconds to play in the first round of the eight-man playoffs, Twin Cedars, with its season on the line was trailing Iowa Valley 22-16. Iowa Valley had just scored the go-ahead touchdown and kicked off to the Sabers. Twin Cedars was set up with great field position after Iowa Valley missed the squib kick that gave the Sabers first and ten at the Iowa Valley 33 yard line. It took just one play to tie the game. The Sabers would take the lead on a two-point conversion and kept Iowa Valley away from the end zone on a Hail Mary pass to win 24-22. Twin Cedars would lose in the quarterfinals to Midland the following week.
