Eight new tennis courts and a full-sized outdoor basketball court could be constructed next spring if Knoxville residents vote yes to Proposition A during the upcoming school board elections.

Proposition A will be added to the school board ballot for residents to vote on and will be used to increase the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy, which would pay for the tennis courts project. The increase in the levy will be counteracted by decreasing retiring school district deb, lowering property taxes for Knoxville residents. Proposition A would replace the current skate park with the new tennis and basketball courts, with the city set to construct a new skate park as part of the Youngs Park Master Plan. The Youngs Park Master Plan would also include four sand volleyball courts, a rope climber and a splash pad. For more information about proposition A residents of Knoxville are invited to attend a forum on August 30 at 5:30 p.m. at the Knoxville Performing Arts Center.
