After a pair of non-conference home games to open the season, the Central College football team faces its first road test of 2017 today – a trip to Storm Lake to battle Buena Vista in its Iowa Conference opener.

While the Dutch come in at 1-1, Buena Vista is 1-0, having played its lone game 16 days ago. The Beavers feature an entirely new coaching staff, with one lone assistant still on staff from the 2016 team.

Central Coach Jeff McMartin says that the new faces, coupled with BV’s long layoff, means that his staff has been preparing for this game just like it were a season opener.

“You think you know what you’re going to get, you have a few ideas, but you don’t know for sure. We’ve had to take that information that we have, that film, and take it and watch it and learn from it and prepare for it. We have to look at the matchups that we have against their personnel and then be ready for anything. And that’s kind of where we’re at with this.”

Today’s game will kickoff at 1:00 in Storm Lake, and Trevor Castle and Cory Houser are making the trek to call the action live on 92.1 KRLS. Pregame coverage will start at 12:35.
