A Des Moines man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly breaking into and stealing items from a Knoxville storage unit. David Lehman, 40 of Des Moines was arrested Wednesday following an incident which took place in August.

According to court documents, on August 22nd Lehman was stopped by law enforcement after the vehicle Lehman was driving lost items from the trailer he was towing. Upon investigation law enforcement officers asked Lehman about the property on the trailer in which Lehman indicated he had picked up the property as junk. Lehman was arrested for driving on a suspended license at which time the vehicle and trailer were impounded. Upon further investigation law enforcement officers conducted a search warrant on the vehicle and trailer, finding property on the trailer was stolen from a storage unit in Knoxville. Lehman was arrested and charged with burglary 3rd degree, a class D felony, theft in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, possession of burglar’s tools, criminal mischief 3rd degree and interference with official acts.
