The Pella Police Department is looking to bolster their reserve officer staff.

Lt. Shane Cox tells KNIA/KRLS News reserves serve a variety of functions, including back-up to on-duty officers, security at events, and other duties. Cox believes the reserves play a crucial role with police and aim to better their communities.
“A lot of my reserve officers that I have currently at the police department–they love the city of Pella, they love working for the community in this capacity,” He says. “People around town know them as a connection back to the police department.”

Current reserve officer Hunter Boertje recommends the position to anyone who wants to help their communities in a positive way as part of the police department.

Applications can be submitted for the next period of testing by September 15th at the Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street.
