The No. 7 in Class 3A Pella Little Dutch continued their district dominance in a homecoming shutout of Grinnell 47-0 in a game heard live on KNIAKRLS.com.

Pella scored on five of their six first offensive drives, with a pick-six by Nick DeJong in-between.

Head Coach Jay McKinstrey tells KNIA/KRLS Sports a fast start was key, and getting rest for a lot of tired Dutch starters was a benefit of pulling away by halftime.

“It was good to have some of the guys that have bene playing a lot of football this year on both sides of the ball in the first four games to be able at least enjoy watching the other kids play a little bit, and giving them opportunities, and to maybe give their bodies a little bit of rest tonight, especially on a really hot night,” he says.

Pella was led by 61 yards and three touchdowns from Reece Schnell and two rushing scores from Ryan Gustafson. Curtis Ware had five catches for 92 yards and an interception on defense.

The Little Dutch have won 28 straight district games and take a 4-1 record into Knoxville next Friday.
