Unseasonably hot weather for the first day of fall as led to a heat advisory for most of Iowa, and may break records throughout the state.

According to the National Weather Service, daytime highs will range from the middle 80s to lower 90s, with peak heat index values in the middle 90s–and approaching 100 at times from noon to 7 p.m. .Prolonged exposure to heat and humidity may lead to heat-related illness if precautions are not taken. People planning outdoor activities–and people attending or participating in athletic and other outdoor events today should be aware of these unusually warm and humid conditions.
