The Knoxville City Council met in regular session Monday.

By a 3-2 vote the council voted against amending the code of ordinances pertaining to garbage and refuse. The amendment would have removed the limit on commercial garbage haulers for the city which currently only allows three haulers according to code. Council members Morse, Kingery and Stephens voted against the amendment and council members Suhr and Lane voting for.

The council held a public hearing for the disposal of an interest in real property in which a resident of Knoxville would demolish a property at 110 West Douglas Street. Due to a typographical error the resolution pertaining to the property had to be postponed until the next city council meeting.

The council rejected a citizen’s request to allow parking on West Larson Street. The council approved SCI Communications for phone and wiring upgrades to city hall as well as the Street Improvements Project Change for a late start date. The council also approved a resolution approving the street financial report for the road use tax funds as required by the Department of Transportation.
