The Knoxville School Board held both the annual and organizational meetings Monday.

During the annual meeting, the board received a presentation from representatives with the Knoxville Food Youth Initiative recapping the success of the the program. They also heard from Knoxville students who took part in a hospital boot camp program during the summer, which allowed them to job shadow local medical professionals at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics. The board reviewed the Annual Financial Summary Report as well as the Unspent Authorized Budget Report, Financial Trendline and 2016-2017 Final Audit Comments. They also took time to recognize members Michael Moats and Dawn Rankin, who completed their time of service.

During the organizational meeting, newly elected board members Martin Duffy and Larry Scott took the oath of office. The new board then voted for Andrew Schmidt to continue as School Board President and Larissa Van Donselaar as Vice President, at which time they also took their oaths of office. They approved the regular school board meeting schedule as well as determined school board committee representatives. The board also approved School Improvement Advisory Committee Members and reviewed school district goals. They reviewed evaluation processes for the board and superintendent as well as approved the purchase of 20 new Apple laptops for $16,120.
