The Eagles football team had little go wrong in their 62-7 blowout of Des Moines Christian heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

Pella Christian did start out a bit shaky, fumbling on their first play from scrimmage and immediately after the first of their D’s five interceptions. But the red-hot Eagles opened the gates with big plays in the last half of the first quarter and rapidly stretched the lead to 49-0 by halftime.

Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says much like he expected, line play was the key to success, and their ability to control the trenches opened up their big play opportunities, despite some potentially costly turnovers.

Colton Uitermarkt led the Eagles defense that held the Lions to 44 yards from scrimmage, as the senior linebacker racked up two-and-a-half sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception return for a touchdown. Hayden Vroom made his debut at starting quarterback, throwing for 84 yards and a score and reeling off a 52 yard quarterback keeper. Noah Treimer had two touchdowns, and Nathan De Bruin had an offensive and defense score.

Pella Christian is 3-0 overall and 1-0 in district play, and travel to Truro next week to take on Interstate 35.
