The streak is over.

The Pella Little Dutch have lost their first game in nearly four years after dropping a 10-7 game to DCG, as heard live on KNIAKRLS.com. Pella was shut out for the first half–the last time the men in green were scoreless for the first two quarters since their last loss against Washington in 2013.

The Little Dutch trailed 3-0 at half, and on their first drive of the second half drove the length of the field to take the lead with a Ryan Gustfason throwing score to Gabe Thomas.

After numerous stops on defense all night, including two inside their own 10 yard line, the Mustangs broke through with a 56 yard touchdown pass from Damon Clapper to Thomas Erickson.

Pella was unable to come back. Head Coach Jay McKinstrey tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that while the winning run was fun, it’s time to focus on district play and bouncing back when they return to their home field after four quarters of hard fought football.

Pella’s 42 game winning streak was tied for 3rd all time in the playoff era in Iowa High School Football history. The Little Dutch are 1-1 and host Bondurant-Farrar for their home opener next Friday.
